make sure to check back November 19th for my review of
book two of Merritt’s story!

Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing
Publication Date: March 11, 2018
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Merritt Adams was used to taking care of herself. With her mother's selfish abandonment, and her father's shocking suicide, she is convinced that nobody will ever stick around for long. However, after she is mysteriously rescued from a fiery crash, Merritt needs to learn how to accept help, and love - even when it comes from an unexpected source. Trying to create a new life for herself will be difficult, and so will resisting the charms of someone she swore she would never show interest in.

In addition to the buzz surrounding Merritt's tragic headlines, everyone is talking about the charismatic Chase Brooks' return home after spending two years in California aspiring to become a rock star. What people don't know is the real reason why he had to leave his dreams behind.

Saddened by his return, Chase is even more saddened to see how broken and alone his childhood classmate, Merritt, is. Two sad souls could be good for each other, couldn't they? Merritt isn't so sure... and after she finds out who pulled her from the mangled car that night, her life will be changed forever.

Review & Wrap-Up:

If you’ve been following me for a while, then you’ll know that I’m not partial to reading romance novels. People have so many different wants when it comes to romance novels, that everyone will never be happy with each one. Personally, if I’m reading one, I want it to be like Kristen Granata’s debut novel, Collision, because in all honesty, I am a hopeless romantic at heart.

One of my favorite quotes from Collision is, “Love stories are like religion; people need something to believe in, something to cling to, even if they never actually find out whether it exists.” I found myself reading this quote several times before moving on with the story. I found it so true, that I even highlighted it. This quote simply describes exactly the way I feel about reading romance novels.

But while Collision is listed as a romance, it is about so much more than romantic relationships. It’s about new and old connections with family and friends and how the love in those relations can span the distance of loss, heartache and even death. The complex characters and their exchanges with one another took the traditional romance story to a whole new level, one in which left me wanting to know more about them and their bonds to one another. Luckily, Collision ends with a cliff hanger, telling me my wish of getting to know Merritt and Chase even more is going to happen!

From one bookaholic to another, I hope I’ve helped you find your next fix.

Dani's Score out of 5: 📚📚📚📚

Pair it with: Columbia Valley Winery Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Cabernet Sauvignon is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Syrah, 4% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot. It is bold and full-bodied with layers of rich fruit character and subtle tannins. Ripe, dark fruit notes of blackberry and black currant combine with notes of toasty oak, vanilla and cocoa. Pair Columbia Valley Winery Cabernet Sauvignon alongside a hearty beef stew or savory pot roast and seasoned vegetables. You can find a bottle for yourself here.
